First fortified by Spain in 1776, the Presidio site has long played a key role in the defense of San Francisco Bay. In 1846, the fort and surrounding land passed into the possession of the United States Army. Today, the area is a national park site. The park is a place of extraordinary natural beauty, where woodlands give way to breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge.
The Presidio San Francisco is a magnificent place to gather. Intimate chapels, elegant reception sites, and conference facilities provide beautiful backdrops for weddings, celebrations, meetings, and retreats. The Presidio offers a complete event experience that includes catering from Bay Area Chef Traci Des Jardins, overnight accommodations at the Inn at the Presidio, and amenities and recreational opportunities all around the park. Have a Presidio picnic, take advantage of Presidio food trucks, and more!
There are many event spaces within the Presidio to host both social and corporate events.
Located inside the Presidio Officers’ Club, Arguello is offered by the Presidio Trust and award-winning Bay Area chef Traci Des Jardins. It features Mexican cuisine and a contemporary bar with craft cocktails.
On a sunny day, Arguello is known as THE place to enjoy a margarita outdoors on its expansive patio. When the fog rolls in, move closer to the fire pit and grab a wool blanket to wrap around your knees. If you’re lucky, you may even witness a chef making tortillas at the comal (griddle). Inside, a 34-foot mural inspired by a historic map of San Francisco Bay circa the 1880s enlivens the bar.
Chapel of Our Lady
Built in 1864, the quaint Chapel of Our Lady was the Presidio’s first house of worship. Generations of military personnel attended services in this non-denominational site.
The Chapel is located within the Main Post – the cultural heart of the Presidio – near the Inn at the Presidio and the Presidio Officers’ Club. Today, it is a favorite backdrop for wedding ceremonies, meetings, and concerts. It is also available for memorial services. Reservations are taken up to two years in advance.
Golden Gate Club
Built in 1949, the Golden Gate Club was once the enlisted men’s service club and the site of several historic treaty signings. Today it is a popular celebration and meeting venue on the Main Post, the cultural heart of the park.
The site features views of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the Presidio forest. The graceful Spanish Colonial Revival-building offers a spectacular setting for weddings, private parties, meetings, and conferences.
The Golden Gate Club is available for reception rentals every day, year-round, except for national holidays including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Reservations are taken up to two years in advance.
Built in 1937, the historic Log Cabin was originally a non-commissioned officers’ club. It is located within the Fort Scott campus along the Presidio’s western shore, not far from the Golden Gate Bridge. The rustic cabin with its Spanish red-tile roof is one of the park’s most popular venues. The large lawn area is ideal for wedding ceremonies or receptions and offers panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline.
Reservations are taken up to two years in advance.
Graced with a breathtaking view of San Francisco Bay, the Presidio Chapel is a beautiful and inspiring location for special events.
Built in 1931 by the U.S. Army, the chapel’s Spanish mission revival architecture features arched stained-glass windows, a magnificent fresco, a high ceiling with redwood beams, wrought-iron chandeliers, and lovely oak doors. Originally used as a Protestant chapel, it later became a home for interfaith worship.
The Mural Room, perfect for an intimate reception, is adjacent to the sanctuary and has a view of the hillside.
Outdoors, a memorial garden lined with flowers, grass and trees is the perfect place for an outdoor ceremony, taking photos, gathering before a ceremony, or hosting a standing reception.
Reservations are taken up to years in advance.
Presidio Golf Course
Just inside the Presidio’s Arguello Gate, bordered by Monterey Cypress and eucalyptus, is a place where Theodore Roosevelt, Charles Schulz, Joe DiMaggio, and Arnold Palmer once swung a club. Presidio Golf Course, one of the oldest courses on the West Coast, has seen more than 120 years of play – and it’s making new history today as one of the best public golf courses in the United States.
Presidio Golf Course was built in 1895 as a nine-hole link exclusively for Army officers and members of the private Presidio Golf Club. During its early military years, it sometimes served double duty: in the Spanish American War, infantry trained and drilled here, and in 1906 survivors of the great San Francisco earthquake took refuge on the grounds. In 1910, the course was expanded to 18 holes. In 1921, it was redesigned, lengthened, and given a watering system. Still, through all its changes, it remained off limits to all but an elite few.
There’s a great reason to visit Presidio Golf Course even if you have never picked up a club – Presidio Café, which dishes up American comfort food with California flair. The café is also a gathering place for popular event such as Trivia Night and wine tastings.
Presidio Golf Course is also a special setting for celebrations and meetings – imagine a wedding reception on the terrace or an anniversary party indoors beneath the clubhouse’s vaulted ceilings.
The Commissary is offered by the Presidio Trust and award-winning chef Traci Des Jardins. Featured in the San Francisco Chronicle’s Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants of 2015, its Spanish-influenced California cuisine is driven by sustainable, locally sourced ingredients.
The Commissary is located in the heart of the Presidio, housed in the former mess hall of an iconic streetscape known as the Montgomery Street Barracks. Built in 1895 and known as “infantry row,” the barracks overlook the beautiful Main Parade Ground.
The restaurant pairs authentic Presidio elements – such as lighting fixtures reclaimed from a historic Army gymnasium and Douglas Fir tabletops fashioned from salvaged wood – with a comfortable, contemporary design.
The restaurant also offers limited traditional and bar seating, dining on the front porch, and “front row” seating surrounding an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs in action. It’s a great place for date night.
In addition to regular evening dining, the Commissary offers periodic special events, from guest chef dinners to holiday celebrations.
Chef Des Jardins has been a force in the San Francisco food scene for more than two decades and has won numerous awards from national and local magazines and the James Beard Foundation.

Presidio During COVID-19 Pandemic
We spoke with the event team at The Presidio to learn how using Allseated has assisted in planning events and booking new business during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
During the pandemic, we have had to revise our sales process. Normally we would have people come onsite first to tour the venue and then follow up with virtual tour options. Since March, we have had to limit the number of people coming onsite so Using Allseated Vision for the 360 experience has become the first step in connecting with prospective clients. It’s working really well for us as we are able to showcase three of our event spaces and areas without having people come onsite for tours.
It also helps us to qualify leads before they come onsite because they already have a great idea of what the space looks like and how it is set up. People are so much more open today to the 360 experience and it’s been really effective during this time. We have had Allseated Vision for almost two years, but have never used it as much as we do right now! It’s been super helpful during the production process as well, allowing us to work with clients on upcoming events. We are able to show various templates and layouts during this time to keep business going and interact with booked clients.
We have been using Allseated’s physical distance tool to plan ceremonies as well as work with other templates and layouts to determine capacities and visualize events with distancing in place. It’s really been helpful for us to rework floorplans we have already designed in the past that need to be redone to meet distance guidelines.
The physical distance tool has been really helpful and extremely accurate for us to plan events virtually, allowing us to determine the walkways and layouts. This tool has been completely invaluable for us right now — I can’t imagine what we would be able to do without this tool! We need to make clients feel comfortable and using the distance tool allows us to do that.
