Wedding couples want their ‘dream wedding’ to be unforgettable, and that means it’s all about the food and a uniquely custom designed experience. It’s a must today that wedding caterers bring their A-game at all times to give their clients the most creative ideas, latest wedding catering trends and the freshest ingredients that will have wedding guests raving about the food, long after the reception is over.
Here are some of the latest wedding catering trends we’ve been seeing here at Marcia Selden Catering.
The rustic-chic look is falling out of favor in current wedding catering trends. Our clients are asking for more traditional wedding menus, with classic items. Entrees are back to delicious basics with a modern twist–Parmesan Crusted Halibut with Shitake Beurre Blanc and Hoisin-Ginger Glazed Steak with Caramelized Onions. Sides have a farm-to-table vibe like Roasted Rainbow Carrots with Wildflower Honey and Crushed Pistachios.

Specialty breads are hot right now in wedding catering trends! Our wedding couples want to make sure every detail of the table is looked at, including the bread. Artisan flat breads, hand rolled bread sticks, and rosemary focaccia are served with compound butters with flavors ranging from spicy to sweet, incorporating some of our couples favorite flavors.
The bar program, our “liquid kitchen” is well thought out, and specially designed to reflect our couples drinks of choice. We’ve noticed a turn towards earthy, clean cocktails that feature unusual fruits and herbs. Our Shiso-Yuzu Mojito has depth and unexpected flavor from the Shiso (a Japanese herb, similar to mint) and Yuzu juice (a tart fruit similar to grapefruit).
