When you first begin the process of planning your wedding, all of the details, meetings, and logistics can quickly become an overwhelming prospect. It’s at this point that many couples decide to bring in a wedding planner to help take on some of the tasks and make life a little easier.
In order to select the best wedding planner for you and your wedding, keep this these ideas and questions in mind when narrowing down your choices.
Background and Experience
Before signing on the dotted line, you and your potential wedding planner will want to meet so that you can get to know each other better and, most importantly, take a look at their portfolio.
Their portfolio will give you an idea of their aesthetics terms of design, florals, and overall style. It will also help you determine their quality of work and if you feel it will meet your needs. Be sure to ask for references as well! While photos can certainly give you a good idea of the service you’re buying, nothing is better than hearing from previous clients directly.
Like in many areas of life, communication is key and planning a wedding is no different. Take note of your potential planner’s response times. Did they get back to you quickly after your initial email?
When setting up a meeting, were they able to accommodate you within a reasonable amount of time? These are indicators of how your communication with them will be throughout the planning process. It’s a good idea to ask them what their policy is on response time and make sure you are comfortable with it.
Before you start making inquiries into hiring a wedding planner, sit down and think about what kind of services you’re looking for. Most planners will offer several packages with different levels of service, from full-scale planning to partial planning and day-of coordination.
Take the time to go over each package and ask the planner exactly what each one includes. The last thing you want is confusion leading up to your wedding on what you thought your planner would be doing for your you and your wedding.
