Event Lighting and Decor Trends 2017
Burlap. Chevron. Mason jars. The ghosts of weddings past. While there’s certainly nothing wrong with these trends, it’s safe to say that they’ve become exhausted from hitting the dance floor for too long and have been escorted out by the new trends on the block.
As we say goodbye to rustic glam and shabby chic, we say hello to all of the new possibilities that are in store for 2017 weddings and beyond – and we are thrilled to be the welcoming committee. Let’s take a peek at what’s on the rise and what’s just around the corner.
Shades of Pantone
I’d be remiss if I didn’t include Pantone colors in this roundup, as the trendy shades often dictate the wedding palettes that we see in the industry. Although Serenity and Rose Quartz are winding down their time in the limelight, their successor is on the horizon and, if you simply can’t wait, Pantone has already released their Spring 2017 Color Report for those interested.
Candles, chandeliers and lanterns aren’t out – that’s for sure. But while these classic fixtures will always have their place, couples are seeking out unique pieces to accent their event spaces. Marquee lights, for example, are having a moment and are the perfect addition to weddings, social events and corporate events. Lit backdrops are another fixture on the rise, so keep your eye out for anything that makes you glow!
More and more, weddings are looking for ways to mix it up and try something new. This is seen in unique seating options, like tables in the shape of an X instead of a standard round, or incorporating textures like velvet or silk to keep things interesting. This move towards being different has kept the industry fun and exciting, as new ideas and inspiration pops up all the time!
It’s your day, so shouldn’t it feel like it? Couples are going full-on custom with their wedding designs and we’re not just talking about personalized favors and escort cards. From custom chandeliers to custom bars to custom dance floors, designing a piece that is made just for your Big Day adds an extra special touch when compared to standard stock items. Whether it’s fitted with your monogram or it’s created with specific metals to complement your wedding theme, custom fixtures have certainly found their spot in the events industry.
Won’t you join us in welcoming in these new trends, as well as many more to come? We look forward to seeing all of the unique ways these trends are brought to life for special celebrations everywhere!
